Why backflow prevention?
Proper backflow prevention keeps the potable water supply safe in the City of Bedford. It’s as simple as that. In the case of an emergency, say a broken water main on the main water supply system, back flow preventers will guard against dreaded backflow (the reversal of water flow, meaning contaminated water flowing from homes and businesses back to the city water supply). That type of catastrophe must be guarded against. Although it rarely, if ever, happens in a city the size of Bedford, just happening once is too often, so stringent regulations are set up to ensure that all citizens of Bedford are safe.
How often for backflow prevention inspections?
The law says once per year all backflow devices must be inspected, and they must be inspected by a certified backflow inspector . . . not just any plumber, but an actual backflow inspector doing the backflow testing, and for a city the size of Bedford, that list of inspectors is a short one.
But it does include City Backflow Testing, and that’s the only company you need to deal with.
