What is backflow prevention?
To understand backflow prevention, you must first understand backflow with regards to the Arlington water supply. Arlington citizens are accustomed to an efficient water supply system. They turn on their taps and potable water comes out. The City of Arlington assures citizens that this will be the case each and every time people want water, and the Clean Water Act of 1972 requires the City of Arlington to make sure this is always the case.
As citizens, as home owners, and as business owners, this is reasonable.
But backflow will, occasionally, happen. Water flows because of water pressure. Water pressure is instigated at the city water supply source, and that water pressure “pushes” water through pipes to your home or business. The entire water supply system depends on the water pressure to be higher at the source than at the end point, your home or business. But there are times when this is not the case; a break in a water main . . . a large fire requiring copious amounts of water used by the fire department . . . these things tend to lower the water pressure and in fact force the water to reverse flow, to backflow, from the homes and businesses back towards the potable water supply.
Obviously this is not good for anyone! Contaminated water must never be allowed to reverse and return to the potable water supply, and thus we have backflow prevention devices installed and inspected. These devices, like a backflow valve, prevent contamination by keeping non potable water from entering the water supply.
Stopping backflow before it begins . . .
It is your safeguard as a business or property owner that your potable water will be free of contaminants, and that safeguard if backed up by city law, state law, and Federal law. Refusal to follow those laws is punishable by extreme fines, so backflow testing and backflow inspections in Arlington are required yearly.

And who should do the backflow testing?
The City of Arlington has a list of certified backflow testing companies from which to choose and, as stated earlier, backflow prevention testing is required annually.
Which brings us to City Backflow Testing, a trusted name in backflow inspection and control. City backflow services include the following: we install backflow assemblies, we test your backflow preventer, and we repair backflow assemblies and yes, we are one of the recommended backflow testers on the City of Arlington’s list with backflow certification.
That kind of recommendation is built upon trust, trust built upon years of quality service.
